THE CENTER REFEREES MUST SUBMIT EVERY GVSA GAME REPORT
Teams do not provide referees with envelopes to send in the game reports.
REFEREES CANNOT create GVSA game reports in REF INSIGHT.
Grand Valley Soccer Association game reports must be scanned by the referee after the game (if there is information on the back of the form be sure to scan it also) into a single document (two sides). (Scanning instruction link is below: HOW TO SCAN.) The subject line of the e-mail must contain the game number and venue name (ie 1234-5 Brewer). The scanned document is then e-mailed to [email protected] the same day as the game.
Assignors will check the mailbox for game reports. Referees who do not send in the game reports promptly will be contacted by the assignor within 24 hours of the game and told to scan and send the document immediately. Referees who fail to submit their required
game reports will be reviewed by the GVSOA Board members and either be removed from future game assignments, or not be
permitted to receive to future games for a specified period of time.
REVIEWERS SUBMITTING REFEREE PERFORMANCE REVIEWS
Before you disengage with the referee crew, make sure the center referee knows who submits the game report form. Different leagues have different procedures (for example: GVSA requires the referee to scan and submit the form to the league; whereas MSP requires the winning team (home team if a tie) to submit the game report form BUT the referee needs to make a photo copy and save it until the end of the season).
Verify the referee has entered the sportsmanship ratings for both players/team officials/parents in GVSA games. Tell the referee to scan and submit the game report document that day. GVSA needs those reports by Monday. Tuesday at the latest.
Scan your reviews of each crew member; send each referee a copy of THEIR feedback from; and THEN send a copy of each review to Mike Wint at [email protected]. Receipt of your reviews triggers action to have you paid for reviewing the crew.

YOUR AVAILABILITY
The default setting for your availability is: always available. Do not indicate when you ARE available. Only create blocks on dates/times when you ARE NOT available. If there are indoor leagues using REF INSIGHT, and you want assignments, update your BLOCKS for November through April. For 2026 matches, block out when YOU CANNOT ACCEPT game assignments as soon as you have the information and keep your blocks up-to-date. Typically matches begin in April and end in June, and resume August through November. There may (or may not) be a summer league (June though August) in the Grand Rapids and Muskegon regions. (You can set your availability to NOT AVAILABLE, but you MUST enter dates and times you will accept game assignments. If you forget to add when you will accept games, you won't receive any assignments.) Your contact information must be accurate. Referees under 18 years of age must include a parent's e-mail address and phone number in their contact information. If you are a new referee in the Grand Rapids' area, contact one of the assignors listed on the CONTACT US page to let them know you are new and would like match assignments. This is the site where you created a user name and password to become certified. If you don't remember your username and/or password, do not create new ones. Contact Carlos Folino ([email protected]) and request help to reset your log-in credentials. If you are at least 18 years old the system will look for a current background check. If your background check is not current, you will have to complete that module as a pre-requisite to being certified. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE FOR A BACKGROUND CHECK. If you need paper proof for a league that you passed the background check, contact Carlos Folino at [email protected]. He can provide the documentation. We hope you will pass the recert material on your first attempt. If you don't, you can retake the tests until you do pass each one. You will not receive a referee badge until you pass all required modules. You will not see the same questions on each subsequent exam. You may use your LOTG book.. Passing scores are as follows: Grassroots Referee 80% on the exam. miss no more than 10 questions. Regional Referee 80% on the state recert. exam. miss no more than 10 questions. The players and game are developing at a fast pace. We need to stay current with them, if not a step ahead. Please begin reviewing the materials now- not as you are taking the test.
